Leaving a Man When He’s Down

Mike Rinder was the most uncaring and nasty person I ever encountered. This story of what he did to a close friend serves as a perfect example of that.

This elderly gentleman, a colleague, happened to be with Mike Rinder on a trip overseas. While there, both were asked to inspect the site of a planned structure the Church was building. Rinder decided they should skip the path and traverse the wet and somewhat swampy ground to get there. Coming across a log, Rinder insisted they cross it.

The other staff member, 20 years Rinder’s senior, slipped on the wet log, falling onto the ground. It was a bad fall. He hit face first, smashing his glasses, which then cut the bridge of his nose. The wound bled profusely, staining his suit, which was also now covered in mud. It wasn’t until later that he realized he had also sprained his wrist.

Mike Rinder’s reaction was wholly lacking in compassion. Worse, he actually acted amused and thought the incident quite hilarious. He had the gall to laugh about his colleague’s predicament and obvious injury.

Not surprisingly, to me anyhow, he offered no help whatsoever. Instead, he told his colleague he had to leave to attend to other matters and left him to fend for himself.

Several other staff arranged for the elderly gentleman to see a doctor who cleaned and stitched his wounds and bandaged up his hand.
