He Wanted Special Treatment
A secretary describes how Mike Rinder wanted to be served food at his desk, then he’d sleep, then he’d yell and call her names—as he did with others.

When I knew Mike Rinder as a staff member in the Church, I observed him get so many chances and so much help despite his mess-ups, lies and abuse of staff. Had he worked outside the Church, he would have been kicked out many times over. He never understood what it is to call oneself a Scientologist and couldn’t have been one. He was an impostor who wanted status.
I was his secretary for several months, many years ago. He had access to service in our staff dining room, but this was not good enough for him, so he had me prepare his meals. That is the only time I was able to move from my desk for any period of time. He couldn’t care less if I had eaten or not.
He would eat in his office. He spent most of his time there, allegedly reading and editing material, while actually sleeping. Or he would be ordering his staff around and verbally abusing them.
One time, he gave me an assignment that was far outside my normal duties or skills as his secretary. This was something he should have been doing, but couldn’t be bothered with. I presented the completed work to him, but it was not good enough. He called me “stupid,” said I was “ignorant” and on and on. He was so obnoxious that I had to leave the office. I was in tears and could not take it anymore.
This was not the only time something like this occurred. It happened to me several times. I also observed him treating other subordinates the same way, especially those who were female.
I have never seen or experienced this with anybody else.
